Material Adaptability: Handling Capabilities of Different Folding Machines for Blister Materials
The diversity of blister materials requires folding machines to possess corresponding adaptability. Two-fold machines are primarily suitable for standard materials such as PVC, PET, and PP, with a thickness range of 0.3–0.8 mm. Their relatively simple folding method places lower demands on material ductility but has limited capability in handling highly elastic or brittle materials.

Three-fold machines expand material adaptability and can stably process a variety of materials with thicknesses ranging from 0.2 mm to 1.0 mm, including environmentally friendly biodegradable materials. The design of three-fold machines allows for finer pressure control, reducing damage to sensitive materials. For materials with special coatings or textures, three-fold machines can adjust folding curves to avoid surface damage.

Four-fold machines possess the broadest material adaptability, capable of stably folding materials ranging from ultra-thin sheets of 0.15 mm to thickened sheets of 1.2 mm. Advanced four-fold machines are equipped with material property recognition systems that automatically detect parameters such as material thickness and elastic modulus, adjusting folding strategies accordingly. For high-end packaging materials such as new composite materials and multi-layer co-extruded materials, four-fold machines achieve damage-free, high-quality folding through precise temperature and pressure control.

In the context of environmental trends, the processing of biodegradable materials has become an important consideration. Two-fold machines have limitations in handling bio-based materials like PLA, as cracks are prone to occur. Three-fold machines can better adapt by optimizing folding parameters. Four-fold machines, on the other hand, are equipped with dedicated eco-material modes that ensure the complete folding of biodegradable materials through precise temperature control and folding speed management, supporting the development of sustainable packaging.
